New Scrapbook Pages

We had a great 4th of July. The parade went right by our apartment. We were surprised at how many people put out blankets and chairs the night before to save their spot. After the parade, we drove to Milwaukee to go to Summerfest. One of our favorite bands from LA, Suburban Legends was performing there. We got to meet the band afterward and they all signed their new CD's for Melissa and Karen.

Last Friday night Melissa and I went to a crop at the new scrapbook store in town. (By the way, Melissa started working there part-time this week.) A yummy dinner and snacks were included. I was able to get three pages done and Melissa finished up a mini book that she was working on.

Some miscellaneous pictures from cruises. This was a challenge from my on-line group. The challenge was to do a "manly" page since most of us do girly pages most of the time.

A page of all the things we did in June. The picture is from the John Pizzarelli concert we went to at Elmhurst college.

On the 24th, we went downtown to see Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me a radio show on public radio. You can also listen to it as a podcast on iTunes. This is the second time we have gone to see this show and I'm sure we will do it again since it is so much fun.

I also did several cards this week, but forgot to scan them before I put them in the mail.

I've been doing quite a bit of knitting this week too. I haven't finished anything, just working a little bit on all of the things I have on needles. Steve thinks I need to reduce the amount of yarn that is in the storage locker downstairs, (for some reason he thinks we have other things we need to store besides yarn!) so I think I'll pull out the knitting machine while they are at Lollapalooza on Friday and Sunday and see how many blankets I can knit up.

Music, Movies and More

MUSIC

Last Thursday afternoon, we drove to Indianapolis to see Jason Mraz and Gavin DeGraw at White River State Park. It is a very pretty park in downtown Indianapolis. We had great seats, the weather was warm and not too humid. The show was wonderful. Both guys are great musicians and very funny. They had just about everyone up and dancing (including Steve).

On Friday we went to the amphitheater in Tinley Park to see John Mayer. Unfortunately this concert experience wasn't a wonderful as the one the night before. The sound was so bad that we left after the third song. It was really disappointing and Steve began a email/letter writing campaign on Saturday complaining about the bad sound system. It will be interesting to see if he gets any replies.

MOVIE

On Saturday afternoon we went to see Mamma Mia. We really enjoyed it. We are ready for another trip to Greece.

KNITTING PROJECTS

I started this Lady Eleanor shawl about a week ago. Buddy decided he needed to stand on it so it wouldn't get away while I took the picture. Several of the people in our knitting group, including Melissa, are knitting this shawl. I love this yarn, it is so soft and really easy to knit with. It is fun to see how everyone else's shawls are turning out. They are all using different yarns so they are all different sizes.

The pattern for these socks is called blueberry waffle. I think they are going to be my favorite so far. I love the colors in the yarn. They remind me of summer: watermelon, blue skies, green grass and water. I may have to get some more to make a scarf and some gloves for winter.

MORE

Yesterday we had a visit from our friends Ken and Marcia. They are in town to visit Marcia's brother and his family. They stopped by to see our apartment and then we went out to dinner. It was fun to spend some time with them.

More Knitting

I've been busy with more knitting. In addition to the two pair of socks that I'm working on, I am also knitting a tank top. The pile of dishcloths is growing too. I just finished this entrelac dishcloth. I decided to do this pattern as practice for a shawl that I started today. As soon as I get another row of squares done on the shawl I'll post a picture of it.

Melissa has been doing quite a bit of knitting too. She has completed four pair of socks and just last night finished a pair of fingerless gloves. After a trip to the yarn store today, she is working on another pair of socks in her favorite color, teal.

Maybe someday I'll get back to scrapbooking. I printed some pictures from the 4th of July so maybe I can work on them tomorrow.

Scrapbooking Again

I'm still trying to get this blog thing figured out, so bear with me. Hopefully I can figure out how to get the pictures where I want them instead of all together in a blob.

I haven't done much scrapbooking lately. I've been doing a lot of knitting. I finished the Cherry Garcia socks and two of these dishcloths. The other one is green and white. Steve said they were too pretty to use so I've put my African violets on them. They look really nice.

I finally did some scrapbooking yesterday. I sat down to clean off my table and get things organized. I bought some really cute little bowls at Anthropologie. Anyway after I got everything cleaned up, I sat down and did this layout. The pictures are from Melissa's graduation cruise in 2005.
