Woobie

I thought it was about time to share some knitting with you all. I recently finished a project for one of Melissa's friends who just had a baby.

The baby's room is decorated in a cowboy theme, so I figured he needed a little
horse to snuggle up with. Isn't he cute? The pattern, and several others, can be found here.

I cleaned out my knitting bags today and found out that I have way too many projects on needles (at least six pairs of socks!) Hopefully I can finish some of them up soon and share them here.

Thanks for stopping by.

October Cricut Classes

Happy Fall! The days are cooler and the trees are full of beautifully colored leaves so I've used some of those colors in my cards for the October Cricut Classes at Craft Fancy. I really enjoy making fall themed cards.

This card is from the Pretty Pennants cartridge. There are some really pretty pennants on this cartridges and some plain ones so you can add whatever you like to them.

I recently got the Art Philosophy cartridge from Close to My Heart and this is the first card I made with it. The cartridge comes with two different stamp sets and some chipboard shapes. I had so much fun with these leaves and stamps that I used them on two cards!

Next up is a cute pumpkin card using the Create A Critter cartridge. I like this one, but I may try one with an orange card base too. Sorry for the dark picture, it was cloudy when I took it.

I finally got my Gypsy working so I thought I would try a shaped card. This one is from the Gypsy Wandering cartridge that is pre-loaded on the machine.

Class dates and times are:

Friday, October 12 - 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Tuesday, October 16 - 10:30 - 12:30 am and 5:30-7:30 pm
Monday, October 29 - 10:30 am - 12:30 pm and 5:30 - 7:30 pm

Hope to see you in class!

Kick Start Class

Yesterday was the beginning of the newest Online Card Classes class called Kick Start. The class is full of ideas to kick start your inspiration when you are having trouble coming up with ideas for cards.

I have been keeping a Pinterest board of cards that I like. So to make the card below, I picked two different cards that had elements that I liked.

The first element was the color blocked background. I stamped a piece of white card stock with Versamark ink and then embossed it with white embossing powder. Next I cut the card stock into four pieces and used four different colors of Tim Holtz Distress Ink to color them.

The second element is the strip of card stock with a flower. I punched out two flowers and curled the petals on the top one for a little dimension. A gem in the center added a bit of sparkle.

I'm happy that the card turned out just the way I hoped it would.

Thanks for stopping by.

August Cricut Classes

Wow, August 2nd already. How time flies. Anyway... here are the cards for the Cricut Classes at Craft Fancy

First up, Mary wanted a card to send to her niece who is going away to college. I found this great car on the Pack Your Bags cartridge and thought it was just right for a card. I love all the images on this cartridge. I may have to do a travel album with them.

Next up, Lu wanted to do a card using the center point function, but I couldn't figure out one that I liked (I'll keep working on it Lu!). I thought I'd show another way to cut shapes in your cards. In this case, it is hexagons, with flowers to cover some of the holes. This one is from the Accent Essentials cartridge.

Next up we have a cute little bird on a branch. Janet requested a bird card. This one is from Straight from the Nest. I went a little wild with the patterned paper this month and used it in some unexpected ways. Polka dot bird anyone?

So if one bird is good, two is even better, right? This one is also from Straight from the nest. I saw a card on Pintrest that had a bird with a flower on the tail and I thought if any bird needs a flower on it's tail, this one does.

And finally we have my favorite card. I've been wanting to make a card with a house on it for quite a while. I recently took the Stretch Your Stamps class at Online Card Classes and one of the cards was an accordion fold card. I figured this type of card would be great for my house idea. So here it is. The houses are from the Handy Man cartridge, the trees are from the Serenade cartridge and the sun and clouds are from the Create a Critter cartridge. The shapes in the middle are from the Elegant Edges cartridge. Isn't it cute?

So thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you in a class!

Wedding Card

One of my students is going to a wedding at the Brookfield Zoo. She wanted a zoo themed card. This is what I came up with. Nothing is glued together yet, but isn't it cute? Not bad for a spur of the moment card.

Stretch Your Stamps Day 8

Today's class was all about outline stamps. Since I didn't have the right kind of ink pad to stamp and then use the Distress Ink watercolor technique, I decided to color my images with colored pencils.

I stamped the Hero Arts Peeking Posies on kraft card stock, colored them in and then outlined them with a black pencil.

Thanks for stopping by!

Online Card Class Day 8

Ok so I'm a little behind in the Stretch Your Stamps Online Card Class. I've made cards for most of the days, I just haven't posted them yet.

Today's Class is using label stamps. I had this little flower stamp from the dollar bin at JoAnn's and it fit perfectly in the label stamp. I embossed them both in white and then colored them in with wild honey, scattered straw and tea dye distress inks. The papers are from the last two Simon Says Stamp monthly card kits - My Minds Eye Indie Chic and Pink Paislee London Market lines. (Love those kits!)

Thanks for stopping by.

New cards

I'm taking the Stretch Your Stamps class from Online Card Classes. Todays lesson was using background stamps.

I didn't have the right kind of flower stamp, so I improvised and cut my flowers out with my Cricut and then stamped them with the background stamp. I like the way the card turned out.

Happy 4th of July

Hope everyone is enjoying their 4th of July celebrations. We just finished watching the Arlington Heights parade, which goes right by our apartment, and are going to see the Spiderman movie this afternoon.

I realized that I haven't posted the cards for this months Cricut Classes at Craft Fancy, so here they are.

A nice cold glass of lemonade would be a great thing to have on a hot day like today. This one is from the Savory Cartridge, with the scalloped rectangle from the Accent Essentials Cartridge.

The next card is from the Picturesque Cartridge. I love the paper from the Simple Stories Summer Fresh line. So pretty.

Craft Fancy is celebrating Christmas in July, so I added a Christmas card to the mix. This one is from the Freshly Picked Cartridge and is a little whimsical. I've been wanting to use this gnome for a while, so I thought this was the perfect time!

Finally, someone asked for a wedding card, so here is one from the Wrap It Up and Elegant Edges cartridges.

There will be one more card using the Country Life cartridge, but it isn't quite finished yet.

Thanks for stopping by!

May Cricut Classes

Welcome to the May Cricut Classes at Craft Fancy. This month we are using my scraps from past classes to make some beautiful cards. Inspiration for these cards came from several different places.

I was inspired by this card. I liked that it was a one layer card, but was still a die cut. I added some small pearls, because a little bling is a good thing! This card uses the Walk in My Garden cartridge.

Next up is a card I found on Pintrest (it is pinned on my Card Creations board).  The original uses washi tape, but this one is strips of paper. If you haven't found Pintrest yet, check it out. Lots of fun things can be found there. Anyway, this card uses the Plantin Schoolbook and Paisley cartridges.

This card came from an ad I found in the latest Reader's Digest magazine. The hearts are cut from the Accent Essentials cartridge. Card inspiration can come from anywhere!

The next card is a pretty flower and some cardstock banners. I'm not sure where the inspiration came for this one, I know I saw something similar somewhere. Anyway the cartridges for this one are Plantin Schoolbook and Accent Essentials.

There will be one more card. I did all these last Friday and ran out of time and ideas for the last one!

Hope to see you in one of the classes!

Here are the cards for the April Cricut Classes at Craft Fancy

The first card is from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge.

Card number two is from Everyday Pop Up Cards, Walk in My Garden and Serenade.

Card number three is for Lu who likes folded cards. This one uses Elegant Edges, Home Decor and Accent Essentials.

Next up is a cute little poodle from Create a Critter.

The final card is from Accent Essentials.

A note about classes this month. Due to our vacation, the classes are at the beginning of the month. The dates are: Wednesday, April 4 10:30 am-12:30 pm and 5:30-7:30 pm and Friday, April 6 at 10:30 am.

I would be happy to make a class kit for anyone who is unable to attend either of these classes. Just send me an email, or call the store and let them know.

We will be back to the normal Tuesday and Friday class schedule in May.
